Four Signs You Need To Update Your Concrete Pavers

Blog

Concrete pavers are typically installed on a patio, driveway or sidewalk. Over time, the concrete can crack and become uneven due to weathering and wear. When this happens, it is time for a new paver project. You can replace the pavers yourself or hire a professional to do the work for you.

Here are four signs that it is time to update your concrete pavers.

The Paving Has Cracked

If your concrete pavers have cracks in them, they should be replaced immediately. Cracks in concrete pavements can increase the risk of water penetration into the slab, which can cause further damage as well as create tripping hazards for anyone who walks on them. Once there is even one crack in a concrete paver, it is best to replace all of them at once so that they match perfectly together again.

You Have Visible Pits In Your Concrete Pavers

Pits in your concrete pavements may be caused by heavy vehicle traffic over time or by ice buildup during the winter months that causes the pavement to expand and contract, creating small cracks in the concrete that will grow over time into larger ones. If you have pitting on your concrete pavers, it is best to replace them as soon as possible so that they will be safe for anyone walking on them.

The Joints Have Separated From The Pavers

The joints are the horizontal lines that separate the pavers. If they have come apart from the pavers, it is time to replace them. You can use a concrete paver joint sealer to help keep water out of your joints, but it won't last forever. A professional paver supplier will be able to help you repair the joints with epoxy and reseal them to keep water from getting into your pavers.

Your Patio Has Stains And Fungus On It

Fungus and stains are a sign that your pavers need to be cleaned. Fungus can lead to mould and mildew problems. Mould can cause health issues for you and your family, so it is important to remove it as soon as possible. Use a pressure washer to clean the patio, and use a concrete paver cleaner as well. If your pavers still have stains after cleaning them, you may need to replace them. A paver supplier can help you find replacement pavers that will match your existing patio.

If your concrete pavers are looking a little worse for wear, it's time to consider updating them. Contact a paver supplier near you for advice today.

Creating a new parking zone

We have had a space out by the back of the shop for parking since the shop opened. But we noticed that fewer and fewer customers were using it and more customers mentioned the lack of parking in our area. It turned out that they didn't like parking on the back, unsealed lot as this made their shoes muddy and their car dirty. We used a concrete contractor to come and seal the carpark as well as mark out defined parking bays. The customers love it and we have noticed an increase in business. This site talks about how small businesses can create parking spaces with concreting to improve their customer experience.
